Fujitsobo / Archivision
This beauty parlor stands in the Omote-sando area of Tokyo, which represents one of the trend setting centers for this metropolis. The building has three roof openings which pours light into the interior and, which, by slit-like openings in the floor is led into the floors below, reaching the ground floor, which in turn can be seen from the street level through its large glass windows (read more…)
AD Interviews: OFIS Arhitekti
While in Croatia, I took some time to visit Ljubljana, Slovenia, and interview OFIS Arhitekti. The practice was founded in 1998 by partners Rok Oman and Spela Videcnik, both graduates from the Ljubljana architecture school and the Architectural Association. OFIS has produced a high amount of buildings in the last years, with very good examples in housing (read more…)
A Studio / Kamil Mrva Architects
An exceptional investor, an exceptional place, a challenge for the architect. The plot is located in the middle of Kojetín, close to Nový Jičín, on a hill with a view of the surrounding landscape. The investor’s intention was to reconstruct a former barn into a place for work and living in the first phase, and build a new family house in the vicinity in the future. The Workshop / Daniel Moreno
Initially the space to take part was saturated and inaccessible in some corners. There was no connection between the garden of entrance and the workshop because in spite of having windows this relation was lost. The objective was to clean it visually, to clear walls, to create ample and practical spaces to store, to organize the materials and to hide the work objects (read more…)
South Africa World Cup 2010: Greenpoint Stadium / gmp architekten
Greenpoint Stadium was the name of the previously stadium located in Cape Town which hosted a maximum capacity of 18,000 spectators. Designed by gmp architekten, the new Cape Town Stadium will host more than 65,000 soccer fans that will enjoy eight World Cup matches (read more…)
