Overlappings: Young Portuguese Architects Exhibition at the RIBA Gallery
A month ago we told you about the upcoming exhibition Overlappings (which already ended), which included a selection of fresh portuguese architects.
Now, young architecture photographer Joao Morgado shared with us some photos of the exhibit.
The intervention of the space is kept minimal, same as the architecture being displayed. A set of 6 chests contain the works of each office (Aires Mateus, Bak Gordon, Inês Lobo, João Favila, Paulo David and Ricardo Carvalho & Joana Vilhena), each one displayed on a different way: computer screen, models, drawings, photos, etc.
I wouldn´t expect “less” from an exhibit of these brilliant architects.
More photos after the break:

nice pictures, would you please tell us about the whole story about this event?
armeyn,
You can find all the details on our previous post:

This looks like an amazingly well designed and curated exhibition.
哈哈不错呦
Too bad it’s not a faithfull representation of the portuguese architectural scene, since most of the firms selected are from Lisbon, ignoring young architects and firms from the north such as Nuno Brandão Costa or Guilherme Machado Vaz, among others of the same age such as João Mendes Ribeiro, Guedes+deCampos or Serôdio&Furtado.
two more comments:
1. not all of the good architecture produced in portugal is so called “minimal”. Another flaw in this exhibition.
2. of the 6 selected architects and firms, only Ricardo Carvalho & Joana Vilhena can be called “young”, since all the others are above 40.
Maybe the exhibition should’ve had another name, more specific to selection made.
I Totally Agree. The “young and fresh” is way off… like you said most of them are in the mid 40′s.
Lisbon lobby…Lisbon is not equal to entire Portuguese country…and for sure is not the center of portuguese architecture…shame on you over 40 young lobby architects…
Nice exhibition, good architecture, but true – too bad that these architectes cannot be considered young… they’ve been working at least for the past 10 years (at least!).
Should have called it “Contemporary Portuguese Architects Exhibition”, it would fit properly for these great architects.
Maybe the next “Young Portuguese Architects Exhibition” will have real young talents.
Anyway, it’s real good to see good portuguese stuff overseas.
Nice one, guys!
Look like a very nice exhibition, at the execption off the horrible fruit logo on the 2 screens… the only logo of exhibition… they should have at least removed it or hide them… If they like logo why dont they put COKE Macdo, Fiat etc
Mac addict are realy sick people…
i am mac addict. im not sick. (thanks). but i agree with you on the first part! exept that the apple fruit is not horrible.
Well, thank god we have a good selection of Portuguese architecture:

Stay tuned, we have some very interesting works from Portugal under the sleeve coming in the next few days ;)
Just a small correction: the exhibition was called “Six Portuguese Architecture Studios”.
