This course introduces students to five of the most significant thinkers in aesthetics from the first half of the 20th century. We will begin with an overview of the formation of aesthetics as a philosophical discipline. Next, we will examine how Benjamin, Bataille, and Merleau-Ponty—in the field of philosophy—and Argan and Greenberg—in the fields of art criticism and art history—insightfully and originally navigated the transformations Western art underwent following the advent of the avant-garde and the emergence of the culture industry. By considering these two radical shifts, which fundamentally altered our relationship with images and the sensory world at large, we will explore the perspectives of these authors and assess the reach and relevance of their writings today.

From 2014 to 2018, Horst Arts & Music took place on the idyllic Castle grounds in Holsbeek. Architects, designers, decorators, and anyone interested in learning more about the impact of color will gather this Wednesday, September 4, at the Hotel Santiago (formerly Hyatt) for the "Colors That Do Good" International Seminar, organized by Ceresita and the Universidad del Desarrollo (Faculty of Architecture). The experience of color as a tool for transforming spaces and people will be one of the topics addressed at the event, featuring insights from prominent professionals such as Pablo Allard, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Art at UDD, and American author and speaker Fawn Chang, a specialist in "color and emotions" and Feng Shui.

The workshop focuses on executing numerous foundational exercises proposed by masters from the Soviet "Vkhutemas" school and the German "Bauhaus." These exercises, which were part of introductory curricula, involve sensory experiments regarding volume, space, form, and color theory, featuring masters such as Nikolai Ladovsky, László Moholy-Nagy, Lyubov Popova, Lyudmila Mayakovskaya, Johannes Itten, among others. Each session will feature two masters and their respective foundational experimental proposals.

Urban Detox provides you a public platform to encourage a strong sense of spatial qualities in a fast-paced urban circumstances. It is a competition of ideas, an opportunity to experiment and explore the limits of architecture. It focuses on creating a design that helps city dwellers to maximize their happiness, to heal their mind and body, to offer them freedom to live through self-expression, and most of all, to engage their five senses in experiencing space.
This competition aims to collect design ideas geared towards how architecture can bring forth the overlooked qualities in a Jakarta commuting atmosphere. It encourages to add values to the commuting culture.
The competition is open for all undergraduate university students all around the world. It can be Individual or team (up to 3 people) consist of at least one student from architecture or interior architecture major.

Seeking to renew thinking about the future of the profession, AsBEA has chosen "Exploring the Future of Spaces" as the theme for its 2019 convention, to be held on September 20, 21, and 22 in Armação dos Búzios, Rio de Janeiro. The event will address issues relevant to the future possibilities of the profession. It will feature prominent figures and authorities in their fields, as well as experts from outside the architecture world, to further enrich the content for participating architects.
