Islands of the Future Festival: Tribute to Martin Chirino. Islands and spirals

A dialogue on the contribution of Martín Chirino to architecture, landscape, and the identity of the Canary Islands through his sculpture. In his spiral structures, the smallest part is always equal to the largest through a multiplication that tends toward infinity. Chirino's spiral appears to be an interpretation of the structure that distributes the islands throughout the world; in part, it reflects how islanders view themselves. Participants include Magüi González, architect and professor of Projects at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of Las Palmas; Fernando Menis, architect and president of the Laboratory for Innovation in Architecture, Landscape and Advanced Tourism of Tenerife; and Jesús Castaño, director of the Martín Chirino Foundation for Art and Thought.

BIAAA 2019: International Biennial of Adventist Academic Architecture

The International Biennial of Adventist Academic Architecture (BIAAA) is a non-profit event held every two years in a different country belonging to the Adventist Architecture Schools Network. The BIAAA began in 2017 as a joint effort between the schools of architecture at Montemorelos University (Mexico), Peruvian Union University (Peru), the Adventist University Center of São Paulo (Brazil), Andrews University (United States), and Sahmyook University (South Korea). The main purpose of the BIAAA is to bring together designers, professors, and students to engage with and reinterpret the design process, considering service to society as an essential principle. Consequently, the importance of the BIAAA lies in its role as a space to discuss the challenges and opportunities of social architecture and its impact on the community.

The plural and digital world of the In Pixels exhibition takes over Casa Tegra

In Pixels is the new exhibition by visual artist Thammy Tales and photographer Rodrigo Albertini, curated by Chico Cortez. Regarding the selection of 16 works that make up the exhibition, the curator notes that they are “parts of the existence of these singular artists, contemporary witnesses to a plural and technological world.”

Book Launch: "Technical Assistance in Urbanism and Architecture for Social Interest"

The work on housing improvements and the qualification of urban spaces in peripheral areas, resulting from the implementation of public and free technical assistance for the low-income population of the Federal District (DF), is the subject of a book to be launched this Saturday (14th) in the Sol Nascente community, in celebration of National Architect and Urban Planner Day. The publication, edited by the Institute of Architects of Brazil and sponsored by the Council of Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal District, brings together texts from various authors regarding the experience carried out by CODHAB between 2015 and 2018, in addition to interviews and articles by professors who also address the topic as an extension project at the University of Brasília.

Cinecubo IAB Screening: Social Housing – Projects of a Brazil

Cinecubo is a film club hosted by the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB) designed to foster dialogue between audiovisual and architectural languages while debating perspectives on the city. On the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM, Cinecubo presents film screenings followed by discussions at the IAB-SP headquarters. Curated and moderated by Nana Maiolini, Travessia Filmes, and guests, the sessions are free and open to the general public.
