L'ATELIER presents an exclusive line of eyewear designed by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira.

Gabriel Rivera views architecture as the experience of dwelling—as the architect's response to user needs, site conditions, and the built or natural environment. Architecture as experience and as a reflection of the self; a search for joy, clarity, and calm. Architecture that serves as an experience for the senses, defined by materiality and ideas; it is the pursuit of life's flow, a human design act with a purpose and a rationale, always born from reflection on ways of dwelling, being, feeling, and living to uncover its motivating meaning. Architecture that acts as an extension of its inhabitants and a reflection of the architect. Architecture that seeks to restore our essence and reconnect us with our own nature. Life flows, and we must flow with it; for Gabriel Rivera, this translates into an architectural duality: stillness and movement. It involves understanding the void around which everything is built and organized—a void understood as space and as a possibility for introspection—alongside the flow, the freedom of movement, of coming and staying.

Did you know that a number of Glenn Murcutt AO’s designed projects have never—or not yet—been realised? Even so, thanks to Virtual Reality (VR) technology, you can now experience some of them in digitally rendered form—as close to finalised as they’ll get, at least for now. By this process, with Glenn’s full support and assistance, Sydney-based Sissons Architects are bringing two of his projects to life in extraordinary detail: the Donaldson House in Somers, Victoria, and a private house in Mount White, New South Wales.

High-Rise Buildings: Multiple Typologies

This edition of the Pan-American Biennial of Architecture of Quito (BAQ) proposes a discussion on architecture centered on the notion of transformation. Through a critical analysis of projects that achieve such interventions, the focus will be on studying the transformative capacity of architecture—from the discipline itself toward the environment and the city—questioning existing systems of relationships and exploring new approaches that bridge the gap between the ideal and the real.
