Cinecubo IAB "Para'í Screening"

Cinecubo is a film club hosted by the Institute of Architects of Brazil – São Paulo Department (IABsp), aimed at fostering dialogue between audiovisual and architectural languages and debating perspectives on the city. On the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM, Cinecubo screens films followed by a discussion at the IABsp headquarters. Curated and moderated by Nana Maiolini, Travessia Filmes, and guests, the sessions are free and open to the public.

Para'í tells the story of Pará, a young Guarani girl who happens upon traditional Guarani corn. Never having seen it before, she is captivated by the beauty of the colorful seeds. As she attempts to plant them, Pará begins to question her place in the world: Who is she? Why does she speak Portuguese instead of the Guarani language? Why is she different from her schoolmates? Why does her father attend a Christian church? Why do they live in a village so close to the city?

Pará is a child who sets her sights on seeing the corn seed sprout. Despite the many challenges, she finds the inner strength to resist, sow, and grow.
