Visiting FAB Puerto Escondido: Second Edition

At Fábrica de Ciudad, we continue to seek new spaces to share, reflect on, discuss, and question architecture. Visiting FAB is a collaborative project with the UNAM Faculty of Architecture, through its Division of Continuing Education and Faculty Development, aimed at building architectural knowledge and dialogue through curiosity outside the classroom—where architecture actually happens: on-site.

IE School of Architecture and Design is pleased to announce its second edition of the Outstanding Architecture and Design Final Degree Project Award.

The awards were launched with the intent to highly compensate graduates for the vast amount of time and effort spent on their final degree projects.

Elizabeth de Portzamparc receives the IAB-RJ Architect of the Year Award

Elizabeth de Portzamparc, a Rio native based in Paris since 1969, has received numerous European awards for her distinguished work in architecture and urbanism. She is particularly recognized for leading large-scale projects in France and China, including entire neighborhoods, science centers, museums, and a monumental 262-meter tower in Taiwan, among others. In 2022, she adds the IAB-RJ Architect of the Year award to her list of achievements and accolades.

After Geoengineering: Climate Tragedy, Repair, and Restoration / Holly Jean Buck

Often viewed as antithetical to degrowth, renewable energy, and climate justice, geoengineering is understood as a temporary solution for atmospheric carbon removal. Yet, are there other possible futures beyond it? How can we conceive of a radical and transformative climate intervention project that is democratic, participatory, and decentralized? Both critical and speculative, this book explores potential futures after geoengineering—futures born from social transformation and justice to address the complexities of the current climate crisis.

Call for Entries: League Prize 2023 | Uncomfortable

CALL FOR ENTRIES
Young architects and designers are invited to submit work to the 2023 Architectural League Prize competition. Projects of all types, either theoretical or real, and executed in any medium, are welcome. The jury will select work for presentation in lectures, digital media, and an exhibition in June 2023. Winners will receive a cash prize of $2,000.

International Design Competition for the Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Kosovo

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport of the Republic of Kosovo has launched the international design competition for the development of technical documentation, concept and detailed architectural and engineering design for the construction of the Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Kosovo.

Call for Entries: International Design Competition for Museum of Sciences of Rome

A two stage architectural Competition for the development of the future Museum of Sciences of Rome (MSR), conceived by the Scientific Technical Commission chaired by the Nobel Prize winning Prof. Giorgio Parisi. The museum is the final part of a broader redevelopment program program that has been involving, since 2013, a dismissed military infrastructure in via Guido Reni.

IAAC Scholarships Competition for the Academic Year 2023/24

Every year, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is offering scholarships covering the 50%, 30%, 20% of the tuition fee of its Educational Programmes to bright individuals whose projects address the challenges of a changing world.

FORET MONUMENTALE #2: OPEN CALLS

The second edition of the Forêt Monumentale will be inaugurated in June 2024. Twelve ephemeral monumental works will be installed along a 4km route in the Roumare forest, in the municipality of Canteleu, near Rouen, France.

While there are of course often concerns about healthcare and support, there are a huge number of factors that affect older generations that aren’t always considered. Many in the older generation struggle to adapt to the changes in their lifestyle. They’re not able to do everything they used to, they’re not working or interacting with their community as much, and of course many will be dealing with the loss of loved ones.

100 Moving Pixels: calling on urban planners, designers and architects to co-build a future city

The international entries are called to a design contest - Hackcity, 100 Moving Pixels, to design a modular smart city with 100 Moving Spaces (L4 autonomous robobuses).
