Starting May 1, the 'EUmies Awards 2022' exhibition—featuring models, texts, videos, sketches, and drawings of the 40 shortlisted projects and a summary of the 532 nominated works—opens at Espai Serrahima – Eskalndestino (a 4-minute walk from the Barcelona Pavilion).

The Pacífico, Huérfanos, and España galleries are among the more than fifteen that will make up the "Foundational Center Gallery System" tour, led by architect and Universidad Finis Terrae School of Architecture professor Víctor Villalobos. This event is open to the public and will take place on Monday, April 18, at 3:00 PM. The meeting point will be the rear entrance of the National Library (Moneda Street).

This activity is part of the Atravieso Urbano (Urban Traverse) series, organized by the same institution, which includes four walking tours through different sectors of the capital during the first semester of 2022. The Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM), through its MATCOAM Building department, is organizing the first edition of the MATCOAM Construction Week, which will take place from November 2 to 5, 2022, at the COAM headquarters, located at 63 Hortaleza Street, Madrid. This new trade fair focuses on innovation and sustainability. Since the beginning of the 20th century, Karl Marx’s famous dictum that "All that is solid melts into air" seems to have its own architectural trajectory associated with emerging ideas of lightness, transparency, and the dematerialization of the building, from Georgii Krutikov’s utopias for a flying city (1927) or Vladimir Tatlin’s Letatlin (1932), to H.G. Wells’s city of the future, governed by the "dictatorship of the air" (1936). "Maximum air - Minimum walls!" was Sigfried Giedion’s demand for transforming the old static sense of structure into renewed combinassions aériennes, and a new system of equilibrium in suspension that, in Konrad Wachsmann’s understanding, would transform the building into a breathing skin.

The Master's Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Oviedo, through its Transportation Engineering and Infrastructure department, is launching its fourth international ideas competition for students to solicit proposals for addressing issues related to transportation networks. The competition is supported by the Mieres City Council, and as such, it aims to intervene within its municipal boundaries.

The Málaga City Council, in its pursuit of a comprehensive transformation of the city's central coastline through the Málaga Litoral Plan, is seeking a cutting-edge, sustainable, and high-quality solution for over 70,000 m² of public space created by the construction of a tunnel to eliminate surface traffic.

Concéntrico 08, the International Festival of Architecture and Design in Logroño, Spain, returns for its new edition from September 1 to 6, 2022. The festival has been extended by two days to propose new collective uses that strengthen the concept of community in public spaces.

The urban scope of the territorial and cultural confrontations between the United States and the Soviet Union extends beyond the well-known post-war reconstructions of Europe, reaching across countries in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Through plans, maps, and microhistories, the exhibition explores the role of architecture and urban design in the more than 500 projects—led by Robert McNamara—that the World Bank financed between 1972 and 1985 in 136 cities of what was then known as the "Third World." This war on poverty sought to halt the advance of communism and expand the geopolitical frontiers of the First World into developing countries, this time through an economic growth agenda that instrumentalized urban housing.

These pages document a journey through the various layers of a city that is now largely lost to time or imagination, weaving a narrative that spans an era nearly a century removed from our own.

This second volume in the Gran Concepción Architecture Guide collection presents 74 architectural works from one of the most significant territories in Chilean history: the Bay of Concepción, located on the coast of the Concepción province in the Biobío region.

Over the past twenty-five years, academic and disciplinary circles, as well as the field of urban policy, have witnessed a resurgence of debates and innovative experiments regarding the capacity and limitations of architecture and urbanism to operate politically. Various international courses, programs, and texts exemplify this trend; activities conducted at schools and universities such as Barcelona, Harvard, Columbia, and the Universidad de Chile illustrate this process. Meanwhile, in the realm of urban policy, Latin America has presented a series of internationally acclaimed experiences, such as Social Urbanism in Medellín, the Favela-Bairro program in Rio de Janeiro, and incremental public housing interventions in Santiago, Chile. This work analyzes the recent reinstatement of political concerns within the international academic and disciplinary agenda, exploring the conceptual implications of understanding architecture and urbanism as forms of political action.

This selection of texts represents part of the interest that the figure of Aldo Rossi has sparked over the last decade. His work was an almost constant presence in international architectural debates during the final third of the 20th century, particularly in the 1970s and 1980s; yet, it was just as uncompromisingly erased as we approached the turn of the century. These are "architects' texts"—that is, the production of thought in relation to the practice of architecture itself, clarifying how one positions oneself toward architecture and the city through one's own work. They reveal a vast territory of inquiry that is still far from being exhausted.
