Launch of 'Anfitrión', the new book on the work of architect Felipe Uribe de Bedout

This Tuesday, October 23, the Medellín Museum of Art will host the launch of Anfitrión, a new book featuring the work of architect Felipe Uribe de Bedout. This publication compiles the work of architect Felipe Uribe de Bedout over the past thirty years. This comprehensive book serves as both a compendium of his built work and an archive of his daily practice.

Published by Mesa Estándar, Anfitrión / Host presents Felipe Uribe’s work in extensive detail, blending photographs, drawings, and architectural concepts with images and notes on his daily life, passions, habits, and core principles. This biographical publication functions as both a project catalog and a personal archive.

Launch: “Santiago’s Island Hills: Building a New Urban Imaginary Based on Its Geography”

“Cerros Isla de Santiago: Constructing a New Urban Imaginary Through Its Geography” is a publication for documentation and dissemination that seeks to raise awareness and highlight the natural and cultural heritage of the valley present in Santiago's 26 island hills. The book develops a dual narrative—one visual and one written—in which two photographers and seven academics and professionals explore the subject of the island hills from their respective fields of expertise. The book also includes fact sheets for each of the 26 island hills, compiling the survey and documentation work carried out by the Cerros Isla Foundation.

    Book Presentation: "Emilio Duhart. Developing a Modern Urban Space: The University City of Concepción"

    Chilean architect Emilio Duhart (1917–2006) and the University of Concepción (founded in 1919) have been inextricably linked since 1957, when Duhart began a ten-year tenure leading the expansion project for the university campus in Concepción.

    Inhabiting the Air: Santiago Cirugeda to Intervene in Nave 11 at Matadero Madrid

    Artist and social architect Santiago Cirugeda will build a house suspended in mid-air inside Nave 11, developing its full artistic potential by inviting creators—Llorenç Barber and Montserrat Palacios, Ignacio Marín Bocanegra, Vértebro, and Los Bárbaros—as well as spectators, to live in and experience it. Once its time at Naves Matadero concludes, the house will be rebuilt by members of the Network of Feminist Women for Gender Equity in Development; the Amalgama Association, a group of Latin American women fighting against gender-based violence; and the Dinamia Cooperative and Trabe Foundation, both of which specialize in integration processes.

    13th Architecture and Urbanism Week

    In its 13th edition, the ARQ URB Week at Faculdades Santo Agostinho has established itself as the largest Architecture and Urbanism event in Northern Minas Gerais. Featuring workshops, short courses, debates, design marathons, and lectures, the event aims to explore themes of architecture focused on urban kindness in a cross-disciplinary manner.

    For over 20 years, the Proyecto Escape organization and the Altos del Pino community have developed cultural practices aimed at fostering a culture of peace to improve the quality of life for the children, youth, and mothers in their community.       This Sunday, November 11, we invite you to a day of public space activation featuring two winning proposals from the IDB and Placemaking Latinoamérica México 2018 Urban Interventions Competition:

      Exhibition "Victor Brecheret (1894-1955)" at Pinakotheke Cultural Rio de Janeiro

      From May 17 to July 14, 2018, Pinakotheke Cultural Rio de Janeiro presents the exhibition "Victor Brecheret (1894–1955)," featuring works by the renowned artist born in Italy and based in Brazil. A key figure of modernism and a participant in the historic 1922 Week of Modern Art, Brecheret is the focus of this exhibition curated by Max Perlingeiro. The show gathers significant works by the artist alongside those of other figures who participated in that watershed event in Brazilian art: Anita Malfatti, Di Cavalcanti, Menotti del Picchia, John Graz, Vicente do Rego Monteiro, Helios Seelinger, and Zina Aita. Many of these pieces were featured in the original 1922 event at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo.
