Unlike previous editions, the Association of Architects of Chile has proposed that the 2018 National Congress of Architects return to Santiago with a broad and diverse call for participation, thereby becoming a genuine forum for reflection to analyze the crisis experienced in recent times and to identify the challenges facing our profession. Accordingly, the 25th National Congress of Architects, to be held on August 3rd and 4th, aims to foster a more active Association that is relevant to the public agenda and serves its members.

The 2nd Science, Technology, and Society Symposium, to be held at UNILA/Foz do Iguaçu on May 24th and 25th, focuses on the geopolitics of knowledge, dependency, and coloniality in Latin America. In other words, the symposium aims to bring Latin American Thought on Science, Technology, and Society (PLACTS) closer to the decolonial perspective, viewing it as a theoretical expression created by the South and for the South, specifically addressing issues most relevant to Latin America. Decolonial thought understands the world through its interiorities, geographical space, and dissident bodies, serving as a powerful critique of Western modernity and its inherent colonial violence, as well as the coloniality of power and knowledge.

The proposal for the International Lato Sensu Specialization Course in URBAN PLANNING AND PUBLIC POLICY: URBANISM, LANDSCAPE, TERRITORY is structured as a research itinerary with a dual objective. First, it aims to create a think tank on contemporary urbanism as an interdisciplinary activity that encompasses urban and territorial policies, moving beyond the rigid dichotomy between planning and design. Second, by establishing relationships with the environment through research, reflection, and action, the course aims to link academic investigation with diverse public policies, based on the production of scientific knowledge systematized in a database that serves as support for Territorial and Urban Planning.

The grupoDEArquitetura—or the group's warehouse, as we call it—is launching its "Open School at the Warehouse" project this month.
The project stems from a desire to share and build critical thinking regarding architecture, urbanism, the arts, cinema, geography, and other fields that play a fundamental role in how we inhabit and transform urban life.

Focused on the exchange of experiences, critical reflection, and continuous learning, the "Open School at the Warehouse" project will bring lectures, seminars, workshops, and debates to Presidente Prudente. Coletivo Sabinada invites you to the opening of the exhibition "(I)Mobilidades: Trajetórias e Narrativas," organized by the collective as part of the artistic experimentation project "(I)Mobilidade Urbana: Percursos e recortes de uma problemática social construída e invisibilizada" (PIBExA 2018/PROEXT-UFBA). Six artists from the emerging cultural scene in Bahia—Ana Elisa Improta, Tita Anjos, Oliver Dorea, Diego J. Cardoso, Milena Ferreira, and Janusberg Barbosa—were invited to create works based on research conducted by Coletivo Sabinada regarding the mobility of FAUFBA students. The findings, organized into a database, were made available to the artists, who used them as catalysts for their work.

An architect serving as executive director at the Metropolitan Heritage Institute, an architectural photographer with experience throughout Ecuador, an architect and human rights activist, and an architect specializing in professional demolition will be the guests at the first international session of the X FORMAS DE HACER ARQUITECTURA project in Ecuador on Thursday, November 22, at 7:00 PM at TORNO Co Creative.

Known simply as XFORMAS, this is the first international session of the project led in Chile by Fabiola González + Yair Estay (TALLER25) and Nicolás Valencia (ArchDaily), which, in Ecuador, is partnered with the local firm Rama Estudio, led by architects Felipe Donoso, Carolina Rodas, and Carla Chávez.

Over the last two decades, the discipline of landscape has been designated as a model and a medium for the contemporary city. During this time, a range of alternative architecture and urbanism practices have emerged throughout Latin America. Many of these practices explore the ecological and territorial implications of urban projects. The emergence of these practices has coincided with social and political transformations in the region.

The 2019 International Social Workshop (TSI) is being held as part of the Microcoast construction workshop in Máncora, the coastal tourism capital of the Piura region.
