Trilhas Urbanas, a board game featuring innovative urban solutions, launches on Catarse
The game provides moments of fun while encouraging collaborative problem-solving, civic engagement, and public policy debate.
São Paulo, September 2023 – Trilhas Urbanas is a board game where players change the future of the city with every step. Winner of the 5th Instituto Tomie Ohtake Design Award (2023), the game combines entertainment, imagination, and advanced urban solutions. To secure its production, Pistache Editorial has launched a crowdfunding campaign on the Catarse platform (catarse.me/trilhasurbanas). The campaign runs until October 10. Trilhas Urbanas was designed by urbanist and architect Beatriz Martinez, with illustrations by Bruna Martins.
The game was tested over three years and went through two prototypes. It has been used in participatory processes with children, family game nights, and adult gaming events. It is an excellent resource for schools to discuss urban issues.
While one player creates challenges that could occur within the game’s territory, the other participants must find solutions using the cards in their hands—and what cards they are! The solution cards in Trilhas Urbanas feature the most innovative approaches to topics such as urban mobility, the environment, historical heritage, culture, and play spaces in the city, among others. All solutions are based on tools implemented and tested by cutting-edge urbanists around the world.
