AméricaEconomía and ArchDaily present "The Digitalization of the Architecture and Construction Industry." Two of the region's most prominent media outlets are joining forces for a webinar to discuss the future of this sector and the impact of this process in Latin America. The discussion will address the implications for various related industries and reveal the opportunities that may emerge post-pandemic.

Since May, the School of Architecture at Universidad Finis Terrae has been hosting the "Isolated Dialogues" conversation series, where professionals from various fields discuss art, music, design, architecture, and creative processes, among other topics, through the lens of confinement. Guests such as writer Rafael Gumucio, architect Cazú Zegers, and former Minister of Transport and Telecommunications Andrés Gómez-Lobo have participated in this experience.

This year, the 5th Aysén Architecture Week 2020 has chosen the theme "INHABITING MINIMAL SPACES IN AYSÉN: CONTRADICTIONS OF A RURBAN LANDSCAPE" to explore, viewing this topic as a provocation intended to spark a deeper discussion regarding the right of Aysén residents to a daily life that fosters health, fulfillment, and ensures their physical, psychological, and social development.

Aiming to continue the discussion and uncover opportunities for adaptation and resilience, this AOA session proposes an optimistic approach to the challenges facing the city and its inhabitants within both local and global contexts. It highlights existing opportunities for positive change following a crisis, thereby promoting more resilient cities in both the short and long term.

In this session, we want to discuss how to find a job if you know BIM. The event will be led by Rafael González del Castillo, Director of Editeca and instructor for various courses and modules in our BIM Master's program.

Fundraising Design Competition: Post-Pandemic Scenarios. Gatherings in Times of Social Distancing

Architecture is inevitably linked to the specific circumstances in which each project is developed, as well as the individual criteria applied to each proposal. At the same time, our discipline is also beholden to general notions that transcend specific conditions. We propose exploring this duality without contradiction, working on a topic that inevitably concerns us all from a broad, universal perspective that allows for the exploration of solutions extending beyond a single circumstance, place, or reality.

To halt the physical and social deterioration of the former "Bronx" sector and create conditions for the center's consolidation as a hub for economic, creative, cultural, and social development, the Mayor's Office—as part of the Bronx Creative District project, led by the Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation (FUGA) and implemented through the Bogotá Urban Renewal and Development Company—has published the draft Terms of Reference for the procurement of detailed studies and designs, as well as the management and acquisition of permits and licenses for comprehensive interventions in two Cultural Interest Assets (BIC) that will form part of the Bronx Creative District.

As part of research into the quality of social housing, the Housing Observatory at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Universidad de los Andes has been working for two years with Compensar and Ingeurbe on an experimental proposal that seeks to positively influence the quality of social housing produced in Colombia.

The workshop "Encounters with Chance: Collage and Creativity," led by @mariarecorta, invites participants to immerse themselves in an experimental exploration of chance through collage and creativity. It is a space designed to break patterns, open new doors, traverse unexpected spaces, seek alternative paths, and discover the evocative power of the fragment.

Revit 2021 | Basic | Schematic Design

This lecture proposes a return to the essential principles of architectural practice—principles often compromised by globalization—with the aim of creating works that strengthen the connection between the user, the site, and time. It highlights the elements that define the specific context of each architectural project and examines how these factors shape the corresponding design response. The workshop’s design methodology is illustrated through a series of built projects featuring typologies and scales familiar to the average architect.

On Wednesday, September 23, at 5:00 pm (Mexico City time), Igor Zotti, General Manager of Soprema Mexico, and Jorge Echeverría, Commercial Manager of Soprema Mexico, will introduce the brand's liquid systems, covering their technical characteristics and specification guidelines.

AWARDS CEREMONY

Through its cultural project Pensarq_ and in collaboration with Espacio EMA, TAQ Arquitectura has created Mini Arquis at Home, a free online architecture activity for children aged 3 to 9, designed to be completed at home, from any country, at any time. The premise of the activity is to highlight the importance of architecture listening to what children have to say about their spaces, as they also inhabit and claim them as their own; for them, architecture can serve as the framework for their memories, play, and education.
The activity consists of two parts; Mini Arquis can choose to complete one or both. The first part involves creatively answering a short series of questions about their thoughts on their home and how they have felt spending more time in it. The second stage is to build a model of your ideal home. There are no rules; you can use whatever you find at home. The goal is to have fun, recycle materials, and enjoy quality family time while reflecting on how children perceive and experience their homes.
Participants may choose to complete either of the two activities. Supervising adults should document the work through video or photographs—the participant's face does not need to be visible—and email the files to pensarq@taqarquitectura.com to be featured in a gallery of all the Mini Arquis projects. The deadline for participation is May 31, 2020.
The first 20 children to submit their responses will receive a digital copy of the book Pedro Perfecto Arquitecto.
This initiative will be promoted in countries including Spain, Italy, Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, and others.
