Taking the opportunity of our participation in the 9th Architecture and Urbanism Week of the Architecture and Urbanism program at the Centro de Ensino Superior de Juiz de Fora (CES/JF), we at Arquicast recorded this biweekly episode based on the event's theme: Scales and Places. Held in May, the week-long event was organized by the program's students and featured a series of lectures and activities, including this special episode. We address the relationships regarding the importance of scale and place in design education and practice across their various dimensions. Our guest was architect and professor Frederico Halfeld, who shared his experience as an educator alongside other insights on the topic.

This biweekly episode features a lighthearted discussion on a topic of great interest to architects. Inspired by the article published on ArchDaily, "11 Ways to Become a Better Architect (Without Doing Architecture)", we invited journalist Ana Paula Capellano to explore unconventional ways of acquiring general skills that can be applied to the field of architecture and urbanism. We discuss the eleven topics proposed in the text, sharing our personal experiences and, naturally, some lighthearted disagreements.

Marking the centennial of its founding, Arquicast #72 discusses the Bauhaus School and its influence on shaping a generation of architects, as well as its impact on the structuring of architectural and urban planning education in various programs worldwide. We invited architect Caio Dias, from Portal Projetar, and architect and ArchDaily editor Romullo Barato for an informal yet informative conversation that delves into the history of the school, its founders, and the broader context that continuously shaped the institution's trajectory.

This year, the Pritzker Prize announced Japanese architect Arata Isozaki as its 2019 laureate. Since the 1960s, the architect has been considered a visionary by his peers, with work that bridges Western and Eastern cultures, reinterpreting global influences in his architecture. In episode #59 of our series on architectural figures, we invited architect and historian Renato Anelli, who is also a board member of the Bardi Institute, and architect, professor, historian, and architectural critic Ana Luiza Nobre to discuss the life and work of Lina Bo Bardi—the Italian architect who deeply absorbed Brazilian roots and translated them into her highly original architecture. Trained at Rome's traditional school of architecture, Lina went far beyond the conventional scope of the profession, also working as an illustrator, editor, designer, and set designer.

In the new episode of the Architecture and Cinema series, we talk with Janaina Pereira, a journalist specializing in cinema, and Laura Carone, an architect, set designer, and art director, about the film Inception, by British director, screenwriter, and producer Christopher Nolan. Released in 2010, the film features a stellar cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, and Michael Caine, and received several awards, including Academy Awards for Best Cinematography, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Sound Editing.
