Washbowl & Bathtub in Grand Hotel | Kaldewei

Kaldewei combines modern luxury with sustainable thinking to offer unique bathroom solutions. MIENA washbowl and MEISTERSTÜCK EMERSO bathtub were used in Grand Hotel Łódź, located in Poland.

For 135 years, the Grand Hotel in Łódź has stood as a symbol of prestige and elegance in one of Poland’s most dynamic university and industrial cities. Following a comprehensive renovation completed in 2023, the historic building has been transformed into a contemporary five-star destination, offering 152 rooms and apartments, two restaurants, a café, and conference facilities that include a historic theatre hall. The restoration not only revived the grandeur of the hotel but also redefined it for today’s standards of comfort and luxury.

In redesigning the bathrooms, the hotel management made a conscious choice to work with Kaldewei, selecting enamelled products that harmonize perfectly with the marble finishes. The bathrooms feature MIENA washbowls and MEISTERSTÜCK EMERSO freestanding bathtubs, both of which elevate the guest experience through a combination of timeless design and exceptional material quality. Designed by Anke Salomon, the MIENA washbowls are defined by their delicate proportions and understated elegance, subtly enhancing the overall refinement of the interiors.

The EMERSO bathtubs, designed by internationally acclaimed artist and designer Arik Levy, introduce a sculptural presence to the rooms. With their fluid, endlessly flowing contours and undulating rim, the bathtubs combine ergonomic comfort with expressive design. The shape naturally creates a generous headrest area, while the fully enamelled exterior emphasizes the object’s sculptural character, blurring the line between functional fixture and modern artwork. As single-seater bathtubs, they embody the notion of private luxury, allowing guests to indulge in an intimate, restorative bathing experience.

Through this careful integration of form, function, and materiality, the Grand Hotel’s new bathrooms reflect the same philosophy that guided the entire renovation: a commitment to harmonizing historic elegance with contemporary design sensibilities.
