Danpal has been transforming light into a versatile design tool for over 50 years, offering architects innovative, energy-efficient daylighting solutions for façades, cladding, roofing, skylights, and shading.
Danpal's Intelligent Daylighting System CONTROLITE® is an advanced system designed for both façades and roofing applications. It features translucent glazing panels with integrated, rotating louvers that adjust their position throughout the day to optimize daylight transmission levels, providing complete control over indoor light intensity.
Benefits:
- Ensures optimal comfort in varying daylight conditions
- Suitable for skylights, roofs, and façades
- Withstands extreme weather and temperature fluctuations
- Sustainable design that saves energy and reduces heating/cooling costs
Features:
- Maximizes daylight in winter and blocks solar heat in summer: CONTROLITE® maximizes comfort by controlling both daylight transmission and solar heat gain. Its panels are perfect for larger skylights and roofs in commercial and public buildings, optimizing light and heat throughout the year.
- Increases comfort through “optimized” daylight: The CONTROLITE® system adapts to changing light conditions, providing effective control over indoor light levels, shade, and solar heat gain.
- Reduces energy consumption: By reducing the need for artificial lighting, air-conditioning, and heating, the CONTROLITE® system significantly lowers energy consumption.
- Integrates sustainable design: CONTROLITE® panels are designed to fit seamlessly into energy-efficient roofing and building systems, helping designers earn credit points in green building certification programs.
How it works:
External sensors detect the direction of the sun, while internal sensors monitor indoor light levels. The intelligent system then adjusts the louvers to balance light levels, heat gain, and shading, ensuring that only the ideal amount of filtered light enters. Unlike traditional glazing, which can reflect low-angle light in the morning, afternoon, and winter months, or introduce too much solar radiation at noon, CONTROLITE® panels continuously adjust to the sun's changing position to optimize the amount of light and heat entering the space.
- Low angle of incidence (morning, afternoon, winter): The CONTROLITE® system adjusts the position of the louvers to transmit the maximum amount of daylight, making the most of low-angle sunlight during these times, especially for skylights and roofing applications.
- High angle of incidence (noon): When the sun is at its peak, the opaque face of the louvers reflects solar radiation, ensuring a perfect balance between light and comfort. This reduces heat gain, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature while saving on energy costs. This feature is particularly beneficial for roofing systems, where solar radiation is most intense at noon.
