Siero Lam is a Spanish producer of wood products and compounds for construction, dedicated to distributing sustainable timber solutions, such as the ones implemented in this restoration project in Ourense.
The Hotel Boutique Acouga is a hotel full of history, a space where guests seek rest and peace within its walls. Its restoration was meticulous and respectful of the origins of the construction and also its historical surroundings.
The use of noble and sustainable materials like wood has been a priority throughout the renovation. All the coverings are made of chestnut wood, a material with a negative carbon footprint. In addition to being durable and resistant.
Every new constructive element was thought to respect the identity of the original building, with careful thought put into every material and piece of furniture. Inspired by its heritage, the intervention makes intensive use of solid chestnut timber, sourced locally and supplied by Siero Lam. Every room is fit to allow guests to adjust lighting levels for their needs.

Throughout the execution, wood and ecological materials were prioritized to reduce the project’s carbon footprint. Clay paint, wood fiber insulation and chestnut timber claddings were used on the finishes and structure, while aerothermal practices and LED lighting complement this bet on efficiency.
The project aimed to respect the building’s original character with a minimal selection of materials. To strip the building from any insubstantial materials was the starting point to remark the authenticity of the intervention against the original building. One of the most valuable aspects of the restoration was the recovery of the traditional galleries at the back façade and the reconstruction of the main façade
