ACTIVE SURFACES® ceramics by Fiandre combines the quality and aesthetic benefits of porcelain stoneware with a unique functionality that improves the well-being of the people who use the spaces they inhabit.
ACTIVE SURFACES® is the result of research conducted by the Iris Ceramica Group and the Department of Chemistry of the University of Milan. ACTIVE SURFACES® ceramics are able to permanently and continuously eliminate polluting molecules in the air, this includes the most dangerous and toxic kinds for people. This is possible by using the light and humidity in the room. Using these surfaces on an external facade for example would help eliminate harmful molecules before they enter interior spaces. The oxidation process induced by the ACTIVE SURFACES® photocatalysis destroys bacteria that comes into contact with the surface. The additional presence of silver on the material makes the surface remain antibacterial in the dark. The surface is able to combat both common strains and particular strains dangerous to human health. This includes antibiotic-resistant bacteria. It also was proven to impede the formation of biofilm and is 99% effective against Coronavirus SARS CoV-2. Certifications include: - Recent ISO certifications for antiviral activity. Tested on two insidious and contagious viral strains - the H1N1 flu virus and Enterovirus 71 - 99% efficacy was achieved against the viruses.
