Driven by an appreciation of materials and honest, functional design, Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen has created the Corbel Shelf for Audo Copenhagen – a versatile floating ledge for use as a bedside or side table or display platform. Taking its name and design cues from architectural weight-bearing brackets traditionally made from stone or wood, Corbel is a modernist, wall-mounted podium that combines contrasting materials. KrøyerSætter-Lassen’s idea for the Corbel Shelf came from time spent documenting corbels in their native Copenhagen.
Supremely simple in its shape, the marble, wood, and metal design unite geometric elements in one functional piece. The Carrara marble has been selected for its beauty and sustainability; made from stunning quarry off-cuts that would otherwise have been discarded. The white stone stands in beautiful contrast to the stained oak and powder-coated metal. Expressive yet understated, it attaches to a wall with concealed screws to underscore its minimalist silhouette, making it ideal for a hall, bedroom, or living room wall, or as a part of a larger installation.
