Use
Interior folding glass wall for fast manual space division with daylight transmission. -
Applications
Corporate offices and meeting rooms, hotels and restaurants, coworking and training spaces, retail and showrooms, civic and educational buildings. -
Characteristics
Continuously hinged manual operation, 15 / 33 / 35 / 37 STC (fully framed), 1/2-inch (13 mm) clear tempered glass, 4.12-inch (105 mm) square top and bottom rails or 10-inch square bottom rail with PureView Plus®, centerline or perpendicular stacking, G330 track, maximum panel width 4 feet, maximum height 10 feet (3,048 mm), maximum panel weight 225 lbs (102 kg).
Modernfold manufactures operable partitions, glass wall systems and accordion doors for interiors that need to change configuration over time. The PureView® Continuously Hinged glass wall links single-glazed panels into one folding run that is drawn across the opening by hand, without motors, controls or electrical service. It is the quickest of the PureView® configurations to deploy and the simplest to maintain, while keeping the uninterrupted sightlines and daylight transmission that define the family.
Continuously hinged operation
Because panels are hinged together rather than handled individually, the wall is extended and retracted as a single unit — one movement rather than one movement per panel. Operation is manual throughout, which removes the electrical coordination that automated systems require and makes the system straightforward to specify in fit-outs where power is not readily available at the track line. Improvements in the system's engineering have extended the openings it can cover, widening its range beyond the small meeting rooms folding glass walls were once limited to.
Stacking options
Panels can be stacked on the centerline of the opening or perpendicular to it. Perpendicular stacking pushes the folded panels out of the opening and against an adjoining wall, keeping the threshold clear and giving a cleaner reading when the wall is open — worth resolving early, since the choice determines how much wall or pocket space the plan needs to reserve at the parking end. Either way, the folded run remains visible rather than concealed, so the finish of the rails matters as much when the wall is open as when it is closed.
Glazing, acoustics and finishes
Panels are glazed in 1/2-inch (13 mm) clear tempered glass, with low-iron, frosted, etched, appliqué, laminated and polar white markerboard options. Rails measure 4.12 inches (105 mm) square at top and bottom, or 10 inches square at the bottom in the PureView Plus® version, and are finished in clear, dark bronze, black or satin stainless anodized, or powder coated in standard RAL colors. Acoustic performance is specified at 15, 33, 35 or 37 STC, the upper three requiring fully framed panels; at 15 STC the wall provides visual and spatial separation rather than speech privacy.
Dimensions and structure
Maximum panel width is 4 feet (1,219 mm) and maximum height 10 feet (3,048 mm) — lower than the 12 feet available in the single and paired panel PureView® configurations, since the hinged run carries its panels as a connected train. Maximum panel weight is 225 lbs (102 kg), the lightest in the PureView® range, and the system runs on G330 track.
