Romullo Baratto is an architect with a PhD from FAUUSP and Managing Editor of ArchDaily. He previously coordinated the editorial team of the 11th São Paulo Architecture Biennial and served as Managing Editor of ArchDaily Brasil, where he led the platform to win the FNA Award—the first time the honor was granted to a media outlet. He collaborated on the editing of the book "Concrete Jungle", published by gestalten, and has curated architecture exhibitions in Brazil, Chile, Denmark, and Italy, as well as delivered lectures and moderated debates in Spain, the United States, and Portugal. His doctoral thesis investigates the urban landscapes of São Paulo through cinema. The highly anticipated Brazilian Antarctic research station, the Comandante Ferraz Antarctic Station, was inaugurated today on King George Island. Designed by Curitiba-based firm Estúdio 41, in partnership with Portuguese engineering firm AFAconsult, and built by the China National Electronics Import and Export Corporation (Ceiec), the new station, which replaces the former facility destroyed by a fire in 2012, will be dedicated to climate change research.
The Fundação Bienal de São Paulo announced today the curators of the Brazilian Pavilion at this year's Venice Biennale, scheduled to open on May 23. The institution invites the public on a journey through the life and work of the architect and urban planner who played an active role in São Paulo's modernization, shaping the city's landscape from the late 1920s onward.
Architecture firm Superlimão, in partnership with BOOMSPDESIGN and the design brand BoConcept, is launching a donation drive to collect supplies for architecture students.
