Romullo Baratto is an architect with a PhD from FAUUSP and Managing Editor of ArchDaily. He collaborated on the editing of the book "Concrete Jungle", published by gestalten, and has curated architecture exhibitions in Brazil, Chile, Denmark, and Italy, as well as delivered lectures and moderated debates in Spain, the United States, and Portugal. His doctoral thesis investigates the urban landscapes of São Paulo through cinema. Architecture firm Superlimão, in partnership with BOOMSPDESIGN and the design brand BoConcept, is launching a donation drive to collect supplies for architecture students. Submissions are now open for the selection of 20 Brazilian projects eligible to compete in the Third Oscar Niemeyer Award for Latin American Architecture. The selection will be conducted by a committee appointed by the Institute of Architects of Brazil, composed of architects and urban planners from various regions of the country. The deadline for submissions is June 15.
Founded in 1997 by Marcelo Morettin and Vinicius Andrade, the São Paulo-based practice Andrade Morettin Arquitetos Associados now features a vast portfolio of projects across a wide range of scales and programs. The field hospital at Pacaembu, set up on an emergency basis to meet the demand caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in São Paulo, will begin receiving patients on Wednesday, April 1st.
