In October 2016, the School of Architecture at the Universidad San Sebastián launched a series of inter-school workshops aimed at promoting critical discussion in architecture, using the project as a vector.

The ultimate aspiration of architecture is to offer its users universes that confront them with different dimensions of the world: starting with physical reality, traversing history through time and space, and arriving at symbolic aspects that express art, mysticism, and the mystery of the human condition. For society in the information age, it is essential to cultivate a connection with art through the presence of its works in daily life and within the city.

On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at 7:00 PM, Argument01: Sampling Contexts—published by DPA Prints and Ediciones Asimétricas—will be presented at Roca Gallery Madrid. The event will feature the series' curators and editors, invited participants (PYO, Taller de Casquería, and Gonzalo del Val), Enrique Encabo, and DJ Juanito Jones.

Architect and urban planner Elizabeth de Portzamparc, who has been based in Paris for 50 years, has distinguished herself through large-scale projects that won major international competitions in France and China. On Thursday, March 21, 2019, she will speak at the IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) in Urca, Rio de Janeiro, on "New architecture and the architecture of connections." During the talk, she will address her key projects and the set of ethical concepts she advocates for 21st-century architecture—such as sustainable development, social connections, respect for the urban context, and flexibility for the future, which opens possibilities for subsequent interventions. On this occasion, she will also launch her monographic book, which traces her professional trajectory.

Contemporary culture has applied the notion of curation across many segments—from works in an art exhibition, where the term is frequently used, to literary fairs, fashion festivals, cinema, or gastronomy—to designate the selection of products or objects based on specific criteria or concepts. Recent artistic production, in turn, by expressing contemporary themes and forms through distinct—and often innovative or even provocative—techniques and modes of presentation, makes the work of curation a powerful form of mediation and dialogue with diverse audiences.

Under the theme URBANISMS: TEACHING, PRACTICE, LEARNING, urbBA[19] is organized around three central themes covering: 1) Urbanism as policy; 2) Teaching and Learning Experiences; and 3) Professional Practice and Action. These are intended to continue the debate process initiated in 2011, the year of its first edition, promoting cooperation between academic institutions, civil society, and public authorities, while discussing central issues regarding the promising relationship between urbanism, collective action, and the right to the city.
