The Núcleo da Madeira, with the support of the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), will host the event "Innovative Ideas for the Timber Construction Chain" from June 10 to 12. The program features several lecture and debate series divided into five modules. The objective is to provide resources to accelerate the approval and acceptance processes for timber as a technologically advanced material.

The Brazilian building standard NBR 15575 establishes sound insulation levels for the built environment, and both engineers and architects must possess a foundational understanding of acoustics and environmental comfort to properly plan their projects. While undergraduate Engineering and Architecture programs in Brazil include courses on environmental comfort, the vast majority provide little focus on acoustic concepts.

São Paulo, like other global metropolises, faces serious challenges in managing its water resources—including urban water pollution and flooding—resulting from an accelerated urbanization process that often overlooks the potential of the biophysical foundations of its natural landscapes.

Learning urban photography requires hitting the streets with a plan. This is the premise of the online course "Introduction to Urban Photography" by Chilean architect and photographer Pablo Casals, available on Domestika. In this practical class, you will follow Pablo through the city as he teaches students by example, allowing you to explore the case study firsthand.

LECTURE "CONTEMPORARY DESIGN - CIRCULAR DESIGN"

This lecture explores the theme of CIRCULARITY through the lens of sustainability. The demand for economic circulation shapes our consumption patterns. Designing today with a circular economy in mind means anticipating reuse, future applications, and new modes of production and consumption. From fashion to product and object design, recycling and upcycling are opening up a wide range of possibilities.

Dynamics in the professional market have transformed how we work and consume; in this process, various professions have had to adapt to new technological trends. Architecture is no exception, and a new type of professional has had to adapt to these new consumption patterns. Office spaces have been redesigned, hierarchies have been flattened, and the creative process has been harmonized with this new reality.

The Escola Coletiva de Projetos was conceived from a desire to deepen reflection, debate, and the (re)formulation of more critical thinking regarding architecture, urbanism, and construction, particularly in relation to the Brazilian Northeast, its climate, customs, ways of life, and cities.

This course introduces students to five of the most significant thinkers in aesthetics from the first half of the 20th century. We will begin with an overview of the formation of aesthetics as a philosophical discipline. Next, we will examine how Benjamin, Bataille, and Merleau-Ponty—in the field of philosophy—and Argan and Greenberg—in the fields of art criticism and art history—insightfully and originally navigated the transformations Western art underwent following the advent of the avant-garde and the emergence of the culture industry. By considering these two radical shifts, which fundamentally altered our relationship with images and the sensory world at large, we will explore the perspectives of these authors and assess the reach and relevance of their writings today.

The HS Arquitetura Art Exhibition is back! The 7th Art Exhibition will be a special occasion, as we celebrate the anniversary of HS Arquitetura and the first edition of the event this year.

As part of the elective course "Architectural Production Modes: Dissemination and Criticism," architect and 2016 Pritzker Prize laureate Alejandro Aravena will deliver a lecture delving into the trajectory and production methods of ELEMENTAL, through the exhibition work produced by the firm for the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark.

Virtual reality, models, and a wide array of pieces by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí will be exhibited tomorrow at the Centro Cultural San Antonio (CCSA) as part of the traveling exhibition "A Virtual World: Gaudí Tours the Region," which is being presented for the first time in the San Antonio commune.

This launch celebrates the 18th edition of Materia Arquitectura magazine, an editorial project from the Faculty of Architecture, Art, and Design at Universidad San Sebastián, directed by Mario Marchant, which centers on the notion of the open project.

In October 2018, the second edition of the Wood and Architecture exhibition, organized by the Universidad San Sebastián School of Architecture in Puerto Montt, was held in the main hall of the Puerto Montt Historical Museum. The exhibition featured work resulting from an invitation to ten young Chilean architecture firms to participate in a small wood architecture brief: a mountain shelter for a Patagonian national park. The images, plans, and models from these exercises in wood exploration, alongside models, drawings, and photographs of various expressions of woodworking by students and faculty of the USS School of Architecture, were visited by more than 3,500 people.

The 9th FAU-Mackenzie Research Forum will take place on October 21, 22, and 23. The event is organized by the Undergraduate Thesis and Research Coordination in partnership with the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at Mackenzie Presbyterian University (PPGAU). The event is supported by the Mackenzie Research Fund (MackPesquisa) and the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES).

This symposium aims to bring together the community involved in educational facilities and researchers in the field to share advancements in Comfortable and Healthy Learning Environments, fostering an open dialogue with attendees to promote better educational spaces.
