This launch celebrates the 18th edition of Materia Arquitectura magazine, an editorial project from the Faculty of Architecture, Art, and Design at Universidad San Sebastián, directed by Mario Marchant, which centers on the notion of the open project.
This issue, featuring Spanish architect and academic José Mayoral as guest editor, posits that the inevitable obsolescence of architectural spaces necessitates conceiving the project as an open process that incorporates unpredictable parameters. The magazine opens with an interview conducted by the guest editor with prominent French architect Anne Lacaton (Lacaton&Vassal), who proposes strategies for creating spaces that allow for uses beyond those required by the program. The dossier articles offer various perspectives on the proposed theme, with contributions from prominent international architects and academics such as Federico Soriano and Dolores Palacios, José Luis Bezos, Víctor Navarro and María Langarita, Marina Otero, Jeannette Sordi, Pier Vittorio Aureli and Martino Tattara, Martin Raub, José Ignacio Vielma, and David Caralt.
