The CUAL Research Group - Urban Commons in Latin America is pleased to invite you to the first seminar, "Urban Commons: Formulations and Experiments in Latin America," designed to establish a meeting platform for researchers, professors, architects, and practitioners involved in the production of thought, debate, and experience regarding the urban common. We understand the notion of the "common" as a collective construction and a political principle that proposes a certain communality of life built in daily practice, operating within the fissures between the State and the market. The varied perspectives and possibilities opened up by the common are explored through the articulations suggested by the thematic axes, using either descriptive or conceptual approaches. The event, as well as its organization, stems from collective work critically committed to building an equitable, inclusive, collaborative, and democratic society.

The disruptive impact of Industry 4.0 is spreading across all fields of knowledge, changing and transforming how we interact with objects and people. Although the effects of this revolution are not yet as noticeable in the field of Cultural Heritage, it is safe to assume that current and future experiments and applications will lead the fields of preservation, conservation, management, and appreciation of Cultural Heritage toward new and unexpected horizons.

Architecture, civil construction, and interior design are not only vital to the country's development but also the primary consumers of Brazilian timber. These sectors can lead the way in building new businesses that employ increasingly sustainable and transparent practices.

The "Unwhitening the City" course offers a space to explore urban production through a multiterritorial and intersectional lens. It is shaped by debates on territory, culture, and language formulated by the African diaspora and Black epistemologies, aiming to contribute to a critical perspective within urban studies. This course is an extension of projects developed by Coletiva Terra Preta.
