Under the theme "The Resistance of the Territory," the 7th Congress of Heritage Communities will take place on June 15, 16, and 17, 2018. MINI Hub, MINI's space for innovation and urban culture in Madrid, resumes its programming in 2018 by addressing the theme of creativity applied to architecture and urbanism. The session will be led by members of the Pez Estudio team, a creative cell of architects formed in 2006 that has not only held exhibitions, lectures, and workshops at artistic and educational institutions throughout Spain, but also across Europe, North America, and Latin America.

Lighting is a key focus, making it increasingly important to incorporate natural light—a readily available and renewable resource—to reduce energy consumption associated with artificial lighting and improve indoor environmental quality.

Reinier de Graaf joined OMA in 1996. He is responsible for construction and masterplanning projects in Europe, Russia, and the Middle East, including Holland Green in London (completed in 2016), the new Timmerhuis in Rotterdam (completed in 2015), the G-Star Headquarters in Amsterdam (completed in 2014), De Rotterdam (completed in 2013), and the Norra Tornen residential towers in Stockholm.

Nivaldo Andrade, national president of the Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB), will participate in a roundtable discussion as part of the Academic Week of Architecture and Urbanism (SAAU’18), taking place from April 23 to 27 in João Pessoa, Paraíba. The event is organized by the Higher Education Institute of Paraíba (IESP). Andrade is the keynote speaker for the "Memory and Cultural Landscape" panel, held on Tuesday (24) at the Santa Roza Theater, starting at 6:00 PM.

The School of Architecture at the Universidad San Sebastián, Concepción campus, is organizing the exhibition "Modern Architecture: Environmental Control Elements in Educational Architecture in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico." This exhibition is the result of the research project "Identification, Analysis, and Development of Environmental Components of the Modern Movement in Educational Architecture in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico," conducted by the FORM Research Group of the Department of Architectural Projects at ETSAB, UPC Barcelona, and funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

The Museu da Casa Brasileira, an institution of the São Paulo State Secretariat of Culture, will open the exhibition 'Experiencing Le Corbusier – Contemporary Interpretations of Modernism' on Saturday, June 16, at 2:00 PM.

This summer, the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT) Architecture and Design Innovation Workshop will continue its participation in the university architectural design studio program in Berlin, organized by ANCB. BIFT is currently seeking 3-5 students to join the workshop.

Renowned Brazilian architects and urban planners, including Paulo Mendes da Rocha, will gather in São Paulo for two days in early July. Alongside approximately 300 other professionals, they will work to draft the "Charter of Architects and Urban Planners to the 2018 Election Candidates, in Defense of the Right to the City"—a long-standing and permanent agenda for the profession since the first Brazilian Congress of Architects, organized by the IAB in 1945, which marked the definition of social function as a priority in the field.

ESCOLA DA CIDADE’S “GEOGRAPHY, CITY, AND ARCHITECTURE” POSTGRADUATE PROGRAM HOSTS SUSANNAH DRAKE OF DLANDstudio, NEW YORK

The architect and urban planner, a professor at FAUUSP, will attend the opening of the Academic Week of Architecture and Urbanism at the Instituto de Educação Superior da Paraíba (IESP), taking place on April 23.

Titled 'Work' and held as part of the Architectural Culture Lecture Series [CCCA] at the EA USS, architects Loreto Lyon [Beals Lyon Arquitectos] and Tomás Villalón [Tomás Villalón Arquitecto] will discuss workspaces, their architecture, and their relationship with the city. On this occasion, the architects will present the Metro Plaza de Armas building and the Providencia Municipal Building, respectively. The panel will be moderated by USS academic Paula Orta.

On June 2nd, the "Musée de la Romanité" will open to the public in Nîmes, France. The project was designed by Brazilian architect and urban planner Elizabeth de Portzamparc, who won the international competition held by the city's municipal government in 2012.
