The Museu da Casa Brasileira, an institution of the São Paulo State Secretariat of Culture, will open the exhibition 'Experiencing Le Corbusier – Contemporary Interpretations of Modernism' on Saturday, June 16, at 2:00 PM.
Curated by Pierre Colnet and Hadrien Lelong of Cremme – Editora de Mobiliário, through the Instituto Cremme—an association committed to social, educational, and artistic spheres through the promotion of cultural activities—the exhibition explores Le Corbusier’s thinking beyond the boundaries of architecture.
The new exhibition presents a reflection on modernism in Brazil and the work of the Franco-Swiss architect. The goal of the Brazilian artists, designers, and architects invited to participate is to keep Le Corbusier’s modern and revolutionary thinking alive. A conversation between award-winning São Paulo-based architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha and Catherine Otondo inspires the illustrations by Alexandre Benoit. Concepts such as symmetry, perspective, movement, and composition are addressed through the works of artists Carla Chaim, Lucas Simões, and Ivan Padovani. Pieces from the Oficina de Marcenaria, developed in partnership with the Instituto Leo, will also be on display; the institute proposed a reinterpretation of modernism through the design of furniture inspired by Le Corbusier’s work. The Campana Brothers complete the group of designers, occupying the Museum’s garden with the Taquara installation.
