Now in its fifth year, The William Sutton Prize is looking for ideas and innovations that have the potential to improve the carbon footprint of the social housing sector and its residents, accelerating the sector’s transition to net zero in a just and fair way.

The current urban lifestyle, centered on vehicles and mass production, has serious consequences for people and the environment. In Brazil, more than 80% of the population lives in urban environments (Embrapa, 2017), and walking is the primary mode of transportation in cities, accounting for 39% of daily trips (2018, ANTP). If we consider that public transport trips begin and end on foot, walking is involved in approximately 67% of daily trips (2018, ANTP).

The submission process for issue No. 10 of TULHA magazine, published by the Tutorial Education Program (PET) in Architecture and Urbanism at PUC-Campinas, is now open. During the vernissage of the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale, the internationally acclaimed publication Architectural Review launched its latest monograph Towards Abundance: the Delightful Paradoxes of Gender. Co-edited by John Jennifer Marx and The Architectural Review the 58-page publication advocates for designers and architects to reconsider a normative masculine tradition in how spaces are conceived and created, a tradition that may feel outdated yet is very much alive in contemporary practice.
