Tamayouz Excellence Award invites architects and designers to submit their ideas for a Rehabilitation Centre for Terrorism Victims in Iraq. The rehabilitation centre should offer a safe and comfortable space for the patients, supporting their health, psychological and physical needs.
The idea of the contest is to work on objects that create tension in spaces, generating future projections that bring new visions and strategies to implement a place through an open and dynamic process. The object in question is a “catalyst”, that intervenes with its strength in an urban space and changes it. In this scenario in which the city is protagonist, what generate interaction? The reflection focuses on Architecture, its function, transience and the relationship with the outside. It may disappear one day, but the void left around it is only apparent since what it creates remains over time. An object symbol that somehow establishes a new spatial, social and cultural dimension. Questioning the urban space means meditating around the “emptiness” of the city, understood as a “place” of social events, forms, meanings, in which its own identity is reflected. Spaces live through change.

TerraViva Competitions launches SILOS BUENOS AIRES, a new architecture competition that aims to rehabilitate the abandoned Silos from Puerto Madero in a creative and unconventional way. It has a broader, deeper and personal connection with its user apart from being a physical shelter for humans and their daily lives, a home forms a distinct, intimate connection with its users. On September 29 and 30, 1941, more than 33,000 Jewish men, women, and children were murdered in Babyn Yar, a ravine in the Ukrainian capital Kiev. This event constituted one of the largest single massacres perpetrated by German troops against Jews during World War II. Over the following two years, Germans killed upwards of 70,000 more people. Upon evacuating the city in 1943, the bodies were exhumed and burned. Babyn Yar is the international symbol of what is known today as the “Holocaust by Bullets.”

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) calls its 9th Advanced Architecture Contest as a global reflection to rethink human settlements at a time when our natural environments and the human habitats are more clearly intertwined. The planet is immersed in a fast process of urbanization while we are simultaneously facing a serious climate crisis that must be addressed. We look to the model of Biocities, cities that follow the principles of ecological principles in order to promote life and biodiversity, to provide us with potential design solutions. How can we reimagine our cities as Biocities, capable of creating an ecologically attuned and reciprocal relationship with nature?
The Municipality of Uhingen, in cooperation with STEG Stadtentwicklung GmbH and the International Building Exhibition 2027 StadtRegion Stuttgart (IBA’27), are announcing an open urban development competition for the »Quartier Spinnweberei«. The project site is the former location of an old textile mill and approx. 1.25 hectares in size. As part of the project qualification through the competition, a productive mix of uses must be created with a focus on housing and working, supplemented by spaces for local services, small produktive businesses, new cafés and restaurants and smaller shops as well as sports and recreational offerings. The development of the Spinnweberei Uhingen site is to act as an impetus and inspiration for urban planning and functional ideas for the entire town of Uhingen, which is located approx. 35 km east of Stuttgart.
