Throughout history, humans have created landmarks—from pyramids to cathedrals to skyscrapers—to unite communities, showcase progress, and spark inspiration. Now, Shift, a new social venture founded by Dutch entrepreneur Don Ritzen, aims to construct a landmark specifically designed to inspire climate action and which looks to attract over one million annual visitors. To turn this ambitious vision into reality, Shift is launching an international architecture competition on January 15, 2025, with a total prize pool of 250,000 EUR.

We are pleased to announce the release of the first edition of the NASA India Research Conference 24-25 (NIRC 24-25), a NASA India Research Cell Initiative. A two stage research conference with initial Abstract submission and final paper submission. An initiative which fosters critical thinking, deepens understanding of design challenges, and contributes to innovative solutions for sustainability, technology integration, and societal impact in the built environment.

Inviting schools to propose the best works from recently graduated architects, urban planners and landscape architects

I-Park is soliciting applications for its fully funded General Residency Program. These onsite, multidisciplinary residencies are open to artists and designers working in the visual arts, creative writing, music composition, moving image, architecture, interdisciplinary practice and landscape design. The residency season runs from May 20 – November 24, 2025. All sessions are 4-weeks in duration except for the May session – 2-weeks.

The Theatre Architecture Competition (TAC), one of the three competitions during World Stage Design (WSD) 2025, is open for entries from students and emerging architecture practitioners worldwide. 'Theatre of Possibilities' is the motto for this issue of TAC and the competition invites innovative ideas for a performance space that can maximize the use and value of a cultural site.

Located on the serene banks of the Vez River in northern Portugal, this competition invites architects to design a boutique wellness SPA that blends harmoniously with its natural surroundings. Nestled beside a historic watermill, the site offers a unique opportunity to create a space that reflects the tranquility and beauty of the region.

The School of Architecture at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is now accepting applications for the 2025–26 Douglas A. Garofalo Fellowship. Named for the architect and educator Doug Garofalo (1958–2011), the nine-month fellowship provides emerging designers the opportunity to teach design studio and seminar courses and conduct independent research, culminating in a public lecture at the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts and an exhibition or public conversation at the school.

The subject of the competition is the design of an architectural solution for a football stadium for FC Baník Ostrava, a.s., which will meet UEFA criteria for the highest category of stadium enabling the organisation of international matches in all categories of football. The new stadium, with significant, larger-than-regional importance, aims to bring the game closer to the fans and create the best possible spectator experience.

The international architectural competition "Reinterpreting Tradition: Contemporary Insights Towards Buttoned Houses' Technique," is organized in collaboration with the INTBAU Grassroots program, Antalya Bilim University, and the Mediterranean Freelance Architects Association.
