Call for Workshop: STATIONTOSTATION, rhetorical devices for the public spaces of Monesiglio

On the occasion of its sixth year of activity, the Banca del Fare project is looking for 10 students and young creatives to participate in a workshop in which to discover local history, mythologize it with unexpected interventions, to discover new collective rites; guide to the design of public space with a hybrid perspective, aimed at subverting traditional urban dynamics, which will take place in the small village of Monesiglio (CN), at the Caldera-Saluzzo Castle, from 10 to 20 September 2021.

Tutor
The workshop will be held by Filippo Fanciotti and Giovanni Glorialanza of False Mirror Office, a group of five architects who share an interest in different themes, from the architectural debate to trivial issues. Convinced that the new is nothing more than the umpteenth reworking of the existing, False Mirror Office re-discovers the past as the present, re-signifies high culture as well as that of the masses, re-evaluates forms and functions. In fact, False Mirror Office misrepresents Architecture.

Aim
Participants will be asked to elaborate a series of interventions, set in the squares of Monesiglio, deepening the phenomenology of public space to subvert its daily dynamics. The system of squares will be reproduced in scale and will be the theater for bewildering events, ephemeral performances, colossal-scale installations and mythical visions, all aimed at setting up a collection of small Wunderkammers.

The assembly of personal objects in inaccurate reproductions of real places will allow the rapprochement between the biographical and collective dimensions, suggesting hypotheses for the consolidation of the long dormant urban identity through an exercise of misrepresentation of reality.
Through the instrument of the conference, the Monesiglio evenings will also be animated by new faces who will present utopian projects, irreverent events and urban visions, while old acquaintances will reveal the details of local history through the words and images of those who lived it. The workshop experience will enrich the real story with unlikely details, elevating the projects to real local mythology.
