Join us in a day-long celebration of all things play and take over the RIBA headquarters at 66 Portland Place. Participate in free activities, tours and workshops for all the family, inspired by The Brutalist Playground installation.

Registration required.

LEGO Elves Fun Hosted by the UK’s only certified LEGO professional, pop in get some building tips from the best and to build and customise your own magical, Elfish creation. Spot prizes and goody bags given away throughout the day.

Minecraft Brutalist Build Bring your own laptops along and design us a Brutalist building on the RIBA Minecraft server. Wifi and power sources will be provided, as well as expert advice from Blockworks. Access images of Brutalist buildings from the RIBA’s collection via our online image catalogue, RIBA Pix for inspiration. Squishy Cityscape Build your favourite building in miniature – or create your own – and add it to our plasticine city.

Ready, Set, Building Tour! 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm For one day only, our building tours are free of charge and come with a twist! Learn about the history of the RIBA and our beautiful headquarters and play for prizes along the way. Tours last approximately 45 minutes and leave from the reception desk.

The Day of Play Display As part of the Brutalist Playground, the RIBA has been working with local communities who live on the estates featured in the installation. This display is the culmination of these projects and includes work from Open Age groups in North Kensington and Westminster, and Islington Play Association. Also open all day: The Brutalist Playground installation, a new commission by Turner Prize nominees Assemble and artist Simon Terrill, is free and open to anyone who wants to kick off their shoes and play.

The RIBA Bookshop sells a selection of architectural books and gifts, including many activity books for children.

Hot and cold snacks and drinks will be served all day in our café.
