COFCO Tianjin Showroom / L&A Design Group On 2009 COFCO (China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation) Tianjin Group organized a competition for its Tianjin showroom. Al Hamra Firdous Tower / SOM Named One of the Best Inventions of 2011 by Time Magazine, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill’s (SOM) Al Hamra Firdous Tower will be the tallest building in Kuwait. The iconic structure appears to fold into itself, creating an efficient form designed to maximize views and minimize solar heat gain. Kristiansand Cathedral School Gimle / Cebra In Kristiansand (NO) two schools situated closed to each other was decided to be turned into one new school. CEBRA won the competition by extending the existing geometries and directions in the two school buildings, and architecturally and symbolic designing a cross, that expresses the new unity of the former schools (read more…)

Visitor And Nature Interpretive Center / Manuel Fonseca Gallego The building is located with in the Natural Park of Los Calares del Mundo y la Sima in the area belonging to the municipality of Yeste, which is located in the province of Albacete, Castilla – La Mancha community (Spain). Not defined as a parcel belonging to the natural park environment. The building has a foot print on the ground of 335.85 m2. The land where it sits is quite hilly, reaching the highest point of a hillock over looking the distant views over the village and faces south (read more…)

Biodiversity Center / Tomas Garcia Piriz (CUAC.arquitectura) + Jose Luis Muñoz Muñoz “Architecture and landscape joined together in the shade of a great pre-existing tree”. The building is located on the outskirts of Loja town in marked agricultural character. This project relates to a beautiful plot of cultivated land served by an irrigation ditch and a leafy mass. This building is thought to be very suitable for a new program based on consciousness, protection and publicity of the agricultural beliefs in Loja (read more…)
