Factory of Ideas and Innovation is the theme for the 12th edition of the Architecture Student Competition, a project promoted by the Brazilian Center for Steel Construction (CBCA). Interested teams must register between February 4 and July 25; teams must consist of at least two and no more than four students. Each group must be advised by a professor from the same university and may also include a co-advisor.
Students are tasked with designing an innovation hub to host researchers, entrepreneurs, and academics. The facility must provide the necessary infrastructure for laboratories and workshops, enabling participants to develop innovative projects while also offering the features required to attract investment and promote local initiatives. The project must be conceived, designed, and structured using steel, taking into account the numerous possibilities of this construction system, in accordance with the technical guidelines specified in the competition rules.
The first-place prize consists of R$ 8,000 to be distributed among the students responsible for the winning project and their faculty advisor. They will also receive various publications on steel construction, a subscription to Arquitetura & Aço magazine, and vouchers for online courses offered by the organization representing the industrialized steel construction sector. The results will be announced on the CBCA website on September 4.
