Interesting video, although I think specific examples would be helpful. As an argument for living in a built world more focused on ideas, this is a bit vague to be totally convincing. The ideas here are worth discussing, but it’s not clear from this on its own how they would translate into actual practice.

i like when he sais that architecture cant be an image, it needs an idea, in 3d, solving the problem, not just a good render.

Scott says:

Really interesting. What I got out of that was he was saying that you not only need to have a process that makes sense but you need to make some sort of stance on why you are doing that project at all, what effects you want it to have and that will help give you a quality that you will try to attain through your formal solution.
It is an interesting way of thinking, and I think that the best architects out there, including some of the dreaded starchatects actually have this idea that is more important that form but it becomes hard to see to someone that doesn’t study the building much since there really is such a large variety of formal styles and there are other constraints in the building process than just this one idea.
I do like his idea of more moderate architecture being the thermometer of architecture rather than the Guggenhiems and Dubais which might be more of an economic indicator. Not that they are totally removed from architecture either though.

Paulina says:

He makes the most sense to me when he speaks out of all interviews/lectures I’ve seen of different architects. So unpretentious, yet extremely witty. It’s the architecture in moderation concept that I love about him and his works.
