Meier Partners has unveiled plans for a 127-meter-tall tower in Taipei. Already under construction, the CDC “55 Timeless” Xin-Yi residential skyscraper will be comprised of two volumes: a solid north tower and a transparent south tower.
"The solid north volume contains the core of the residential units that flows towards the transparent south volume, which is a natural light-filled space where living, social and the more public programs are located," says the practice. "A carefully crafted geometric organization allows viewing corridors towards the mountains in the far distance."
Richard Meier adds, “Natural light is a very important element of the CDC “55 Timeless” Xin-Yi Residential Tower and the architectural grid helps to bring all the elements of the building into a rational organization so that all of these elements are interrelated both horizontally and vertically. This by consequence affects the structure and the detailing of the building bringing everything into a harmonious whole."
The private building will be one of the first in Taipei to dedicate its entire landscape to the public realm. It's lower half will be comprised of two apartments per floor; its upper portion will allocate one large apartment per floor. Luxury amenities, such as an outdoor swimming pool and roof deck, will be located on the tower's top floors, framing views of Taipei 101.
