The proposal is located in a site with a slope, in a small urban block. The site is on an important main artery of the city. This urban element seeks to connect two separated areas of the district, and secure urban voids for activities and meetings.

The building destined for Sociedad Vecinal Bº Provincias Unidas is located at an intermediate fraction of the assigned lot between Islas Malvinas, Rio Mocoreta and Alberti streets.

Plan

This project adapts its formal and programmatic design to linking two existing pedestrian scales, pursuing a new circulatory activity. We wanted to connect a level difference while generating a base that allows it to house the program services.

The proposal reinforces the existence of a dry plaza on a slope, where a fruit and vegetables fair traditionally takes place. It defines the entrance to the building. It is at this strategic level where the building is considered from a functional and formal perspective.

Section

The volume of the building is generated as a neutral response on the main artery and gives a more permeable and plastic response to the secondary streets where access to plazas, courtyards and facilities are located. Thus, the building is also supported on an edge of the ground, releasing part of it and creating an urban void.

Its morphology and materiality comprise a base of concrete walls on the ground floor that covers all health and related services, thus containing the main activity.

Section

On the first level the materialization pursues the unit and this is generated with the use of concrete blocks arranged in an inverted position as a permeable screen that controls light entering the field, sifting the light changes that occur daily. The roof must span considerable distances (23m x 32m). It is designed from a synergistic resistant, lightweight fabric that accompanies and enhances the overall formal design.
