ARKIMEET 2013 focuses on cities. The theme of the event - launched with the motto "Architects Meet in Istanbul"- has been designated as "ByPass". Various subjects, including the problems and the solutions that respond to city and urban dwelling, both in local and global contexts, will be discussed in detail. The relation between the architecture and the cities will be examined through numerous topics... The event will seek answers to a range of questions concerning the built environment and its actors... How do the architects deliberate the interventions made on the cities whereas these interventions are not made to be perpetual or sustainable? The so-called gentrification / regenation projects shaping the public and urban spaces, transportation strategies cause irevocable unwholesome results by incoherent approaches. It is not difficult to find the responsible ones for the 'short circuits' in the cities since the architects and the other related professionals are excluded from the process. Alongside such problems, what about the essential solutions? What about the ones who are avoided from the cities by the possessors of the power; problems, malfunctions, stray dogs or urban dwellers?
