Randić & Turato shared their competition entry for the new Adris Group headquarters in .   The architects investigated corporate office typology and its ability to generate public space when designing the proposal.  ”Instead of building a structure on the perimeter of the block, that creates a characteristic configuration with public street on the outside and enclosed private court on the inside,  the concept raises the program in a structure that hovers over the existing block,” explained the architects.  In this way, the ground floor is completely accessible to the public creating a covered square below the new office building.   The structure is supported by our sets of large steel columns that hold the building’s independent geometries. Each of these “legs” are programmed with ground level activities while the offices are organized within a horizontal framing structure.

More about the design after the break.

WOW…..looks like comments lately are justa race to see who post the first project reference… “it looks like (insert random project here)”

I like it, I’m not into this chaotic design looks at all, but It’s a refreshing proposal, it’s obviously the first renderings of an idea, eventually it will get polished.

Now, here I come with my token “archdaily reader clever reference”, it’s to a certain degree similar to what ALSOP did in Toronto for the Sharp Design Centre, a hovering rectangle supported by inclined pilotis. But I don’t point this out as a negative comment, just saying that it’s entirely feasible, which is good news.

I have only 2 concerns, first regarding the buildings around it, or should I say bellow it, it looks like it’s invading the space/lot next door, unless those buildings are owned by the client, either case, would it be a good idea to appropiate the space above other buildings?

Secondly, there seems to be no piercings at all in the proposed building, no “holes” so to speak, it blocks 100% the sun on the so called “plaza”, and I think in a place like Croatia, sun is something you would like to get every now and then.

It’s different from coop’s works both the cinema and the museum.Coop’s roofs have no function.
In this one floors are moved up into the air. They’re totally different.
