20091107_GrasshopperWorkshopBanner03The Parametric Design Workshop will take place in on December 5. This workshop will focus on the conceptual context and technical understanding of parametric design through a carefully constructed 2-day curriculum.

Participants will learn to engage the parametric modeling plug-in Grasshopper in a meaningful and productive way that draws upon the collective sensibility present in the group.

Emphasis will be placed on strategies for deploying constraint-based design, associative modeling techniques, and environmental influencers for parametric geometry creation, analysis, and documentation.

Attendance will be capped at 15 to provide each participant maximum one-on-one time with instructors. For more information click here.

you can go to their website- studio mode, from what i hear, run their own practice, they teach at pratt, columbia, princeton, some other schools, they are also sanctioned routinely by rhino to do training courses for grasshopper. they write alot of their own custom scripts to be integrated into the grasshopper platform. they are also the first practice to use grasshopper on a large scale building- the new monterrey rayados stadium in mexico- whom studio mode is a consultant to populous architects in new york city. any more info- you could probably email studio mode. they are nice guys.

okay, if you say so… i was interested, but didn’t really see anything that looked like endorsement or sponsorship, by rhino… the arch profession is full of people that went to sci arch or columbia or wherever then crit and co teach for a week, with ex profs or friends and then say that they “taught at xyz” im sure they are nice guys … or whatever. i just didn’t want to show up at a rental studio, filled with pirated software and given the same thing i could get from a on-line tutorial… because over two days im sure i won’t be writing my own scripts, because if i could i wouldn’t need rhino…. blah blah. im sorry, but hopefully you can understand $550 is a lot, to me at least.
