TWS & Partners named their latest work , as it accommodates the function of a home and a studio within one place.  The studio is located in the urban setting of Jakarta, amidst the semi-detached housing units that are typical of the area.  With a small site measuring 10 meter by 20 meter, the project aims to “elaborate the tropical, shaded, natural illuminated, and cross ventilation, breathing space regardless all the limitation of space.”

More images and further project description after the break.

The house is made of two boxes of massing, which “float” above the ground floor, leaving an un-interrupt living and dining room.  The two volumes leave ”in-between space with the perimeter wall” to permit natural light and air inside the building.  These in-between spaces filter light to the lower spaces and also provide for the vertical circulation of the home.

Not bad. I wonder why the architect chose to limit the color palette to black, white, and gray, with only a bit of color showing on the underside of the stairs. It’s not original, per se, but well done, nonetheless.

Cool floor plan. Is it just me, those bath room inside bedroom are too small for this scale of house?

this house is a reminder of the modern homes in vietnam. i’m getting personal as i say, it makes me utterly homesick just looking at it… the tropical weather, the smooth surfaces, the simplicity, the closeness to nature as visions of the outdoors transition into the home. it is beautiful as it is functional and holds the realms of architectural beauty.
