The Los Angeles based Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects (LOHA) and Bruce Mau Design (BMD) have just been awarded the Big Blue Bus Architectural and Branding Package by the city of Santa Monica.  For over the past eighty years, the agency has provided organized and helpful services to all in the city.  The new project will provide the two internationally recognized firms with the opportunity to redevelop the agency by exploring how public transportation has the potential to cultivate, enrich and connect the community.

Further information after the break.

Due to their steadfast commitment to innovation, the municipal services of the Big Blue Bus Agency include the latest technological advancements and sustainable systems.   In order to keep the agency moving forward, LOHA will lead the collaborative effort to design an iconic and creative redevelopment package.  This user-friendly package will reflect the essence of the distinct communities that are served by the Big Blue Bus.

The shelters will be a contemporary model of sustainability by using alternate power sources, high efficiency light fixtures, and incorporating locally available recycled and reclaimed materials into the design.
