LEGO® Architecture Series: Sydney Opera House by Jørn Utzon

® Architecture Series: Opera House

LEGO® has just announced the newest building in their Architecture series, the iconic Sydney Opera House designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon.

Sydney Opera House is not only a building with great beauty but it has also become known throughout the world as a symbol for not only a city, but a whole country.

The LEGO version of the Sydney Opera House seeks to capture the essence of this grand building in a small scale. Like the other models in the series it was created by Adam Reed-Tucker.

The set will be available in stores on March 1st at a suggested price of $39.99. More images after the break:

The LEGO architecture series is really cool, but geeze, I had no idea how much these tiny little sets cost!

This Lego set is just dumb. Any architect (or anybody else for that matter) who understands anything about the structure and design of the Sydney Opera House would understand that it is a total sham to attempt to “capture the essence” of it with snap together plastic blocks.

the only model that i think looks a bit good in the series is the Robie House. I’m serioulsy wandering if anyone buys these sets??

so don’t, you know, buy it.

i’m sure someone will come out with a scale model using thin shell concrete. maybe you can get that one.

Looks like a bit of a mess… It wouldn’t be my first choice to recreate with legos, but personally I feel like it makes a decent abstract representation of the building…I kinda like it.
