Next week we will be taking our Architecture City Guide to Rome and we need your help. To make the City Guides more engaging we are asking for your input on which designs should comprise our weekly list of 12-24. In order for this to work we will need you, our readers, to suggest a few of your favorite modern/contemporary buildings for the upcoming city guide in the comment section below. Along with your suggestions we ask that you provide a link to an image you took of the building that we can use, the address of the building, and the architect. (The image must be from a site that has a Creative Common License cache like Flickr or Wikimedia. We cannot use images that are copyrighted unless they are yours and you give us permission.) From that we will select the top 12-24 most recommended buildings. Hopefully this method will help bring to our attention smaller well done projects that only locals truly know. With that in mind we do not showcase private single-family residences for obvious reasons. Additionally, we try to only show completed projects.
This week we are headed to Rome.
Example of the information we need for your suggestion:
Auditorium Parco Della Musica / Renzo Piano

Separating the modern and comtemporary out of the many layers of Rome is easy enough. But how can we separate those from a continium of architecture history is impossible (projects built on the foundations historical and physical of others). I would suggest and all encompassing guide to the architecture of Rome.
That said here are my suggestions.
1. Casa Girasole_ Luigi Moretti (also Moretti has an interesting parking garage at the end of Via Veneto)
2. La Rinascente Department Store_ Franco Albini
3. Corviale Social Housing
4. Ara Pacis Museum _Richard Meier
5. Church of the Year 200_Richard Meier
5. Stazione Termini_ (Great canopy, flowing space)
6. Nemesi Studio_ Catwalk and passageways on Trajans Forum.
6. Nemesi Studio_Church of Santa Maria della Presentazione.
7. Piazza San Cosimato in Trastevere.
8. EUR (Esposizione Universale Roma). Great, classicaly modern and bare buildings including the Palazzo de la Civilita Romana and the Museum.
The masterplan is really rational, interesting and grand
9. Garofalo Miura. Church of Santa Maria Josefa and Parish.
10. and my personal favorite is the Cinecitta Studios, where the modernity lies in the constructuions and juxtposition of different time periods in a single lot. Amazing!
Im sure i am forgettign several ones but
Good luck!
Visit EUR. While the rest of Rome is bursting at the seems you can walk around EUR unhindered. There is a Nervi building in the park, a strange tall church on a small hill and the EUR building that Robert Hughs described as ‘the most sinister building in the world’. My wife thought it was “pretty”. The Futurearte restaurant close by will serve you the best food at the cheapest prices that you will find in Rome – but then it is in the ‘political district’!

Santa Maria de Novela, a small church off Via Trastevere. The glass and gold mosaic ornament above the naive shimmers beautifully during a sunny day.
