Wojtek Gurak recently shared these photographs of The Hepworth Wakefield Gallery designed by David Chipperfield. Still under construction the new art gallery will open May 21, 2011. Situated next to the River Calder, the state-of the-art facility has ten gallery spaces displaying historic and modern art as well as temporary exhibitions of contemporary art making it one of the largest purpose-built galleries outside of London. The program also includes an auditorium, learning studios, garden, cafe and shop.

very nice project…

but the photographer is showing no less than 10 times the same view from the river… and i am sure this building has many other interesting views (inside, maybe?)

unfortunately due to construction works the site is closed off and there is yet no public access from other angles. the second photo shown of a different angle has been taken through the gates. as soon as they finish works on the pedestrain bridge and uncover its access it will open new interesting views :-)

It is unfortunate that none of the photos show the new bridge over the river which was constructed for access from this side; the new bridge leads to the entrance plaza where there has been some bespoke ‘streetlights’ built.

There is several other very interesting viewpoints from which pictures can be taken; I myself have several pictures of this building from many more angles than this.

There is some more interesting pictures on The Hepworth Wakefield website, and also on their Facebook page.
