As part of the cultural program of the Centro Cultural España en México, the exhibition "Copias del abandono" is presented as a collaboration between Mexican artist Sandra Calvo and migrant communities from Tlaxcala. It is an investigation that began in 2016 comprising a film, archives, architectural plans, and testimonials. This research—which was presented at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale in 2021—reflects on an architecture born from migratory processes between Mexico and the United States, focusing on the architectural parallels between the houses where migrants work in the US and the homes they build with remittances in their hometowns.

Despite apparent progress and setbacks, migration in North America continues to unfold under conditions of inequality and violence. To this day, the Mexican population continues to make up the largest percentage of migrants residing in the United States, and the cultural bridges between communities are increasingly evident.

Over the years, driven by research that has brought once-neglected and marginalized issues to the fore, the debate surrounding self-construction and migratory processes has become increasingly vital for exploring the social phenomena reflected in the architecture of underserved, commonly termed "irregular" areas. While a clear polarization remains regarding what a living space should or should not be, we must observe what already exists—not only to contribute to the discussion but, above all, to listen and learn.

"Architecture Without Architects" is a project led by Mexican artist Sandra Calvo between 2011 and 2014 in the neighborhood of Villa Gloria—a self-built housing complex in Ciudad Bolívar, a district in southern Bogotá. Working in collaboration with a resident family, the project involved creating a thread structure that reflected their latent aspirations for their own home through design and building practices.

The 8th March is a date set by the UN in 1975 to remember the struggle for equal rights and universal suffrage. This commemoration brings together the efforts of women who demanded their right to vote, work, professional training, hold public office, and fight discrimination in the workplace. This struggle is the fruit of the work of women who sacrificed themselves for the cause. Various events that we experience on a daily basis show that the social situation has changed. However, it is essential that both men and women commit themselves to progress and justice in order to make things happen.
