Architects, not Architecture. | Barcelona Edition 2026

Co-organized with the Fundació Joan Miró and developed by the studio Tomorrow Bureau, Gaudí–Miró–Gomis: Deconstructed explores three key 20th-century Catalan figures, bringing the original works of the three creators into dialogue with unprecedented digital installations.

HP and Foster + Partners will host a panel discussion at the UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 exploring how technology is reshaping collaboration across the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.

The FABRICATE Call for Works is open and the organisers are looking for innovative projects from research and industry to be a part of this international event.

Submission Stage 1 consists of an Abstract of 600-800 words with 10-15 embedded images that declare and clearly demonstrate the specific research innovation as built, and in the development of being built. High quality images of design and fabrication processes should predominate the selection, with 3-4 images of the work as complete.
The 2027 Edition focuses on rethinking extractive models of architectural production, learning from local contexts, and empowering more diverse communities of designers, makers, and builders. FABRICATE is looking for work that engages meaningfully with material, social, and environmental questions across diverse scales and geographies.
Since its inception FABRICATE has played an important role in promoting innovative work at the intersection of design and making—bringing forward projects that challenge how architecture is conceived, materialized, and constructed. It has been a platform not only for technological advancement, but also for new ways of thinking about practice, materiality, and impact. While FABRICATE has often been associated with advanced manufacturing and robotics, this year FABRICATE is also interested in broad critical shifts in the field.
The event is co-chaired by Areti Markopoulou (Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia) and Xavier De Kestelier (Hassell) aiming to strengthen ties between industry and research.
FABRICATE 2027 will take place on the 14th and 15th May, 2027, in Barcelona, Spain, organised by IAAC and hosted by COAC (Col·legi d'Arquitectes de Catalunya).

Artificial Kreativity presents Kreative Talks with Sir Peter Cook.

On July 6, 2026, Marcela Aragüez, Academic Director of the Master in Architecture at IE School of Architecture & Design, will present "The Red Book: Architecture, Collaboration and the Osaka Expo '70" at Kyoto University alongside Thomas Daniell, translator of the original Japanese report. Published by Actar Publishers, the volume presents the first English translation of the influential 1967 document that established the conceptual foundations for Festival Plaza, the iconic centerpiece of Expo '70 Osaka.

Architecture's Inscriptions will open this July at TANK Shanghai on the West Bund. Running from July 9 to October 7, 2026, this exhibition brings together works by contemporary architects and artists alongside ancient Chinese manuscripts, rubbings, scholar's rocks and paintings, exploring various forms of synthetic poetics grounded in inscription.

The Trieste Contemporanea Committee is pleased to announce the 16th edition of its International Design Contest: HOLD THE PLACE. The competition is carried out under the patronage of the ADI – Association for Industrial Design and the Central European Initiative. Following the success of last year's edition, InfraVision, the Think Tank founded by Vauban and Altermind, is pleased to announce the 2nd edition of its international student competition in 2026.

Though fleeting, Christo and Jeanne-Claude's projects left iconic afterimages in dozens of natural and urban landscapes, creating, as they themselves put it, "gentle disturbances."

The competition was launched on March 20th 2026 following a landmark agreement between the City of Zagreb and the Croatian Government. This €224 million joint investment aims to replace aging infrastructure with a world-class, integrated sports precinct. The organisers invite visionary designs for a 35,000-seat stadium and a 'City of Sport' that honours the site's historic character while meeting 21st-century athletic needs.

The Urban Design Lab (UDL) announces the fourth edition of its international Thesis Publication, inviting submissions from undergraduate and postgraduate students in urban design, architecture, landscape, and planning disciplines. Conceived as a global academic platform, the initiative curates and disseminates exemplary thesis work that engages with contemporary urban challenges through design, research, and critical inquiry.

The Tamayouz Women in Architecture and Construction Award is an excellence award for women who have contributed to the fields of architecture and construction throughout the Near East and North Africa. The award consists of two categories:

Cabin Fever is an international summer school and festival launched by the Hungarian architecture studio Hello Wood, known for its design-build approach and community-focused, sustainable projects. Since its founding in 2010, Hello Wood has become a global platform merging hands-on education with socially engaged architecture.
