Descripción enviada por el equipo del proyecto. Bairro do Lóios is located in Marvila, Lisbon. It was built between 1979 and 1981, as a result of the Chelas Urbanization Plan, promoted by the Lisbon Municipal Council, by the Portuguese Governement and also under cooperative initiative. With a strong social character, it brings together various cultures and different forms of appropriation and experience of urban space. The Lóios Gymnasium is located in the center of a circular set of residential buildings and represents a very important element for the dynamization of the resident population. Up until then, the pavilion had degraded facilities that were insufficient to meet the demand. The initiative of the Junta de Freguesia de Marvila was to refurbish and expand the locker rooms and bathrooms, adding a new gymnasium room.
