SEMANAU IV - Semiarid: Resilience of a Region

SEMANAU (Architecture and Urbanism Week at UFERSA) is an event organized by the Architecture and Urbanism program at the UFERSA Pau dos Ferros campus, located in the Semi-Arid region. Throughout its four editions, its primary objective has been to connect students from this rural public university with professionals, students, and researchers in the field (architects and urban planners) or related disciplines.

Inaugural Lecture FAU+D Mackenzie

On August 7, the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU Mackenzie) will host Zaida Muxí and Josep Maria Montaner for its inaugural lecture. Zaida Muxí, an expert in urbanism, architecture, and gender, will present her latest publication, the book Mujeres, casas y ciudades. Más allá del umbral. Josep Maria Montaner, author of over fifty books, will share insights on his new book during the lecture “Otra Historia, Razón y Orden en la Arquitectura Contemporánea.”

Exhibition “Someone’s Home”

In a creative collaboration, the Brazilian furniture gallery Apartamento 61, together with Act.—a firm specializing in art consultancy and curatorial projects—and the design studio Palma, have joined forces to present the exhibition "A Casa de Alguém" [Someone’s House].

Exhibition: The Method / MARQ

The method is an academic proposal for approaching urban themes through fieldwork and critical observation of the city's arteries. Like any method, it consists of a series of steps that, when performed systematically, allow for targeted action that replaces chance or individual convenience.

International Seminar “Suzano of Tomorrow +5”

The City of Suzano recognizes the importance of aligning with contemporary demands and challenges, particularly regarding climate emergencies and social developments. Consequently, aware of the need to refine the vision for the city's future—originally established in 2017 through the revision of the Master Plan (Supplementary Law No. 312/2017)—the municipal administration is proposing the "Suzano of Tomorrow +5" International Seminar.

Specialization in Historic Preservation and Restoration - Applications Open

Applications are open until July 10 for the second cohort of the specialization in Historic Preservation and Restoration at the Federal University of Technology – Paraná (UTFPR), in partnership with the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville. The program will take place in Curitiba, spanning three semesters (500 hours), with classes scheduled to begin in August and held in-person every two weeks.

Concrete Show takes place in August at the São Paulo Expo

Concrete Show, an event for the construction supply chain, has opened visitor registration for its 14th edition, which will take place from August 8 to 10 at the São Paulo Expo in São Paulo. Registration is free and must be completed on the Concrete Show website.

Course: Interior Detailing 2nd ed.

This 12-hour course consists of theoretical and practical classes, covering everything from the theory of millwork to topics such as finishes, lighting, executive projects, and construction management. To ensure a thorough grasp of the technical knowledge required to understand interior detailing and how to translate it into plans and drawings, the course includes in-class practical activities, always with guidance from the instructor. The course also features out-of-class exercises, as well as support materials including a workbook, exercises, and useful checklists, which are particularly helpful for those just beginning to work with detailing representation.

Urban Mobility Management, with a focus on the discussion of smart and sustainable cities, is the subject of a course at Insper

São Paulo, 2023 – Registration is now open for the course "Urban Mobility Management – A Path to Smart and Sustainable Cities," offered by the Arq.Futuro Cities Laboratory at Insper, which will take place throughout August and early September. The eight sessions aim to deepen knowledge of urban mobility dynamics, a central theme in policy discussions aimed at ensuring a better quality of life for inhabitants.
