The UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 Barcelona (UIA2026BCN) announces the UIA International Student Competition, an invitation for students from around the world to engage with the Congress's core theme Becoming. Architectures for a planet in transition. Participants are challenged to design spatial interventions that enable resistance and adaptation to predictable threats related to political shifts, social transformations and climate change, among other concerns. This competition asks students to think beyond conventional design methods, using time as a design strategy to catalyse resilient future. This single-stage student ideas competition is organised and conducted in accordance with the UNESCO Standard Regulations for International Competitions in Architecture and Town planning and the UIA best practice recommendations. The competition brief has been developed by the UIA2026BCN Curatorial Team and organised by the Higher Council of the Orders of Architects of Spain (CSCAE) and the Architect's Association of Catalonia (COAC).

Architect Fumihiko Maki (1928-2024), in his seminal text "Investigations in Collective Form," grapples with architecture's role in an increasingly complex society. Collective Form emerged when buildings came together to produce something larger than the sum of their parts. While today many of these same challenges exist, the notion of Collective Form has also expanded. The Steedman 2026 jury seeks mindful research proposals on architecture's role in producing collective forms/ forums that catalyze a more politically engaged discipline and citizenry. The award for the 2026 winning proposal will be $100,000.
Advances in Architectural Geometry (AAG) is a conference where both theoretical and practical work linked to new geometrical developments is presented. Open House Thessaloniki returns on November 23 and 24, bringing the city’s architecture to life with over 70 open buildings and a variety of parallel events. This year, the festival focuses on “Accessibility and Inclusion,” promoting architecture that is welcoming, functional, and open to everyone. With free guided tours led by dedicated volunteers, visitors will have the opportunity to explore Thessaloniki’s rich architectural heritage and contemporary designs that shape the city’s landscape today.

Jeffrey Huber: Jeffrey Huber, FAIA, ASLA, NCARB, LEED AP, WEDG is a principal and manages the South Florida studio of Brooks + Scarpa. In addition to practice, Huber currently serves as a Professor of the School of Architecture at Florida Atlantic University. He holds master's degrees and licenses in both architecture and landscape architecture. A distinguished architect and landscape architect, Huber's work specializes in public realm projects that combine ecological, landscape, urban, and architectural design. He has advanced sustainability initiatives in soft cities, agricultural urbanism, green school design, missing-middle housing, transit-oriented development, low-impact development/green infrastructure, and adaptation/transformation design methodologies to address emerging and future climate disruptions.

Concéntrico, in its aim to initiate new formats that respond to urban transformations, presents a call for proposals with Logroño City Council and LIF 2002, Logroño Integración del Ferrocarril, within the framework of the strategic plan to face heat waves in the city of Logroño. The aim of this call is to create a permanent urban climate island, which will be located around the lake in the Felipe VI Park on the terracing that forms a hexagonal square.
